Contact-Aware Refinement of Human Pose Pseudo-Ground Truth via Bioimpedance Sensing

I designed a bioimpedance sensing circuit as part of this ICCV paper on utilizing self-contact sensing to improve human-pose estimation using 2D camera data (Link). The circuit is designed to be used with the Adafruit ESP32-C3 QTPy, and measures changes to a small AC signal, injected onto the human body during periods of self-contact. The system replaced the MFIA impedance analyzer from Zürich Instruments and is a fraction of the weight, size and cost - enabling wearability and commercialization. The methodology and circuit have been registered as a provisional patent with the German Patent and Trademark Office in February of 2025.
